Sometimes, the student beats the master. Or at least, their players do.
Facing her former tennis player Sadie Westberry's Rome High team, Beth Heath and the Woodland girls dropped a 5-0 decision Wednesday at WHS.
"I am proud of her accomplishments in her second year coaching," Heath said of Westberry. "It's nice to see your former players love the sport as much as you do."
Despite losing all 10 sets, Woodland showed plenty of fight.
Line 3 singles player Abby Cates came up narrowly short in a 6-4, 6-4 defeat.
Meanwhile, Jaylee Kilgo and Jolie Fannin were within 7-5 in their first set on Line 2 doubles before falling 6-2 in the second. On Line 1 doubles, Monterya Morrow and Abigail Spaulding won four total games across their two sets.
