Waitcel Eugene Thomason


Mr. Waitcel Eugene Thomason, age 88, of Dallas, GA, passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2019, at his residence.  

Waitcel was born on June 10, 1930, in Dallas, GA, to the late Mr. Bevie Homer Thomason and Mrs. Esterlena Sligh. He had been a lifelong resident of Dallas and Paulding County and was a member of Narroway Baptist Church in Dallas, GA. Waitcel worked as a self-employed farmer in the timber industry for many years and was also a GLT Plumbing Ambassador. His passion was taking care of his family, farm and land. Waitcel loved caring for his chickens and tractors too. He was extremely friendly and never met a stranger; always wanting to feed everyone that he came across. Waitcel was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be missed dearly by his friends and family.  

Waitcel is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Mrs. Marie Collum Thomason; children, Lavelle (Jimmy) Brewer, Gene (Linda) Thomason, Sype (Sharon) Thomason, Charlene (Tony) Dudley, Billy (Donna) Thomason and Terry “Toots” Thomason; eight grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; sisters, Martha Tibbitts and Eloise Wilson. Many other relatives and friends also survive.

In addition to his parents, Waitcel was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Alisha Pilgrim; his second mother, Mrs. Rena Sanford Thomason; brothers, Guy Howell Thomason and Clyde Thomason.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 3, 2019, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of the Jeff Eberhart Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Tibbitts and Rev. Bobby Walraven officiating. Mrs. Thomason’s Sons, Dale Wilson, Randy Wilson, Adam Thomason, Wesley Thomason, Travis Thomason will serve as pallbearers and Chris Thomason, Clay Thomason and Howell Thomason will serve as honorary pallbearers. Interment will follow in the Narroway Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Todd Tibbitts officiating. 

The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Sunday, June 2, 2019, from 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM.
