Northbound traffic on Highway 41 was rerouted Tuesday onto a temporary bridge over Pettit Creek. Southbound traffic will be rerouted today over the former northbound bridge to accommodate demolition of the southbound bridge. The bridge work, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation, is part of a 1.079-mile widening and reconstruction project on U.S. 41. The project is expected to be completed by Feb. 5, 2020, at a cost of $31.5 million.
