Roy Senate Wilson

Roy Senate Wilson, aged 94, passed away in his home on Saturday, November 19, 2022. 

Senate was born in Pickens County, Georgia, on January 14, 1928. He served in the Philippines during World War II. He was a devoted member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and a retired meat cutter from The Kroger Company with 38 years of service. He enjoyed camping and woodwork, but most of all, he loved his role as Husband, Daddy and Pawpaw. 

Senate was preceded in death by his wife of 76 years, Dottie Wilson, his parents Lula Belle and Carter Wilson, nine siblings and two great grandchildren, Ella Chambley and Sawyer Raines. 

He is survived by his four daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Lonnie Roberts, Jan and Richard Odom, Marsha and Danny Smith, Yvonne and Mitch Jenkins. He is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Billie and Claudine Wilson, sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty Ann and Ronny Richards, Francis and Jimmy Bingham. 

Senate was the loving PawPaw to Alicia Baynes (Michael), Jarrod Roberts (Jill), Bryttany Odom (Alison), Bryant Odom (Abbi),  Allison Raines (Jimmy),  Bethany Weightman (Mike), Tori Owen (Cary),  Natalie Chambley (Brandon),  Brookeanna Herring (Daniel),  Devin Jenkins (Jordan),  24 Great Grandchildren, and 1 Great-Great Grandchild.  

The Wilson Family would like to acknowledge some very special caregivers in their lives. Natalie Chambley, Cherry Huck, Jordynn Freeman, Trena Bell and Betty Boston. These women have shown the love of Christ and become family to us. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Senate‚Äôs memory to Tabernacle Baptist Church in Cartersville. 

A Celebration of Life service will be conducted on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at 12pm at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Cartersville with Rev. Billy Wilson and Rev. Patrick Latham officiating. The internment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers include: Bryttany Odom, Bryant Odom, Jarrod Roberts, Michael Baynes, Lt. Col. James Raines, Brandon Chambley, Daniel Herring and Devin Jenkins, honorary pallbearers include Michael Howren and Lee Atkins. The family will receive friends at Tabernacle Baptist Church on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, from 11 until 12.
