Mr. Odis Anderson Jarrett, age 77, of Adairsville, passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2021, at his residence.
He was born in Adairsville, Georgia, on February 5, 1944, son of the late Rev. J.O. Jarrett and Gladys Towe Jarrett. He was a member of Dry Creek Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, choir director, and had been the church treasurer for over 30 years. Mr. Jarrett retired from chemical products and enjoyed riding motorcycles, working on small engines, watching football and Nascar, and was known for making the best chicken and dressing. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Williams Jarrett, to whom he was married August 30, 1963; two sons, Dwayne (Gloria) Jarrett and Brandon (Rebecca) Jarrett; four daughters, Melanie (Joe Don) Gravitt, Anissa Jarrett, Kim Whittinghill, and Jaime Jarrett. Sister, Opal Jarrett Freeman; 12 Grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 30, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Dry Creek Baptist Church, Adairsville, with Reverends David Baker, Randy Jackson, and Jody Orton officiating. Interment will follow in the Dry Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
The body will lie in state at the Church from 1:00 pm until the funeral hour on Friday. Pallbearers include Brad Whittinghill, Dylan Jarrett, Brady Angland, Justin Gravitt, Jeremy Warren, Scott Woodring, Cory Baker and Dixon Holtzclaw. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Hazelwood, Jimmy Maddix, George Jones, Gene Blankenship and Carl Towe.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Barton Funeral Home.
