Mrs. Madge Terrill Tate, age 89, of Rome, GA, passed away Thursday evening, September 9, 2021, at her residence.
She was born in Cartersville, Georgia, September 11, 1931, daughter of the late John Richmond Terrill and Alta Mae Cope Terrill. She was a member of Adairsville Baptist Church and attended St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Rome. She was also a member of The Daughter of American Revolution, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Daughter of the War of 1812, Orphan Brigade Association, Huguenot Society, and Huguenot Society of Manakin. She loved family history and had a passion for discovering all she could about her ancestors. Genealogy was something she and her son Michael enjoyed doing together. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Mr. Richard Vinson Tate; brothers, Herman, Richmond, Ray and Allen Terrill; sister, Clara Mae Terrill.
Survivors include her son, Michael Richmond Tate; sister, Marjorie Venable; sister-in-law, Helen Ann (Bob) Davenport; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
A memorial service will be held Friday, September 17, 2021, at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home with Mr. Austin Stephens officiating. The family will receive friends Friday at the funeral home from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM. Interment will follow in Eastview Cemetery, Adairsville.
