Lois Sanford Crowder

Lois Sanford Crowder, age 76, of Cartersville, GA, passed away on Saturday, October 29, 2022. She was born in Cartersville, GA, on July 3, 1946, to the late Hugh Tanner Sanford and Connie Abernathy Sanford.

Lois is survived by her husband, William Crowder, of 55 years; son and wife, Richard and Pam Crowder; grandchildren, Cainen Crowder and Chase Crowder; and brother, Tony Sanford.

She was a loving soul, whom was a friend to all she met. She loved music and dancing.  She was doing the “Dancing with the Stars” swinging before it was even a thought for a TV show. She was a master of the twist and the mashed potato. She was a regular for many years at the McDonald's breakfast club, an avid putt putter and loved walking at Dellinger Park.

She was an integral part of the day-to-day operations and bookkeeping of her son's businesses since 2001. Prior to that, she worked about six years at Belk, as much for the employee discount as the money she earned.

If there was, anything related to her son and grandkids, whether it be attending a race, game, concert, performance or even mundane tasks like chauffeuring them to and from practice, she loved every second of it equally. Her hobby was taking happiness in giving her time and effort for others.

She fought cancer for years, and would minimize her condition with its complications anytime someone mentioned it. She would tell them she loves her life, and lives it to the fullest more than ever, and is thankful for every minute of every day god has afforded her. It is an inspiration to us all to value your life and family as they could be taken at a time when you least expect. Cliches are easy to throw around, but she was one of a kind, and there is a large void left in our earthly world without her.

A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at Owen Funeral Home on Sunday, November 6, with visitation from 12pm to 2pm and service at 2pm.
