Joyce Louise Amico, age 85, of White, GA, passed away late Friday night, June 17, 2022.
The former 2000 Miss Georgia Senior America is survived by her husband of sixty-six years, Salvatore Amico; her son, Salvatore W. Amico; and her daughters, Pamela Amico, Gina Tyler and Charmaine Fleming. She is survived by fourteen grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren; sister, Patricia DeGeorge; and brother, Ronald Quadarella. During her reign as Miss Georgia Senior America, Joyce was a guest speaker at civic and religious group meetings. After a visit with the then Governor Roy Barnes, she also addressed the Georgia State Legislature during one of their sessions. She was very active with her senior women dance group, “The Star Lighters,” as they performed and entertained at senior centers and nursing homes. During holidays, Joyce was the “Grand Marshall” of several parades, including the “Great Locomotive Chase Festival” held in Adairsville, GA. Prior to retiring from Crawford and Company, Joyce owned and operated several businesses including an Arts and Crafts Store, Amico Tax and Book Keeping and A Charm School for young girls.
A visitation, Celebration of Life Service will be conducted by Dr. Chas Childers officiating and she will be laid to rest in Sunset Memory Gardens. All services will be conducted privately for the family.
