James Franklin Carder

James Franklin Carder, "Frank,"  died peacefully with his entire family by his side on November 16th, 2019, in Cartersville, Georgia at the age of 77.

Frank was born on September 1st, 1942, in Fort Benning, Georgia, to James T Carder and Lois Edwards. He married Dovie Elizabeth Coleman, the love of his life and sweeter half in 1962. After moving around a lot in the Air Force and the Army, Frank and Dovie finally settled down in Atlanta, Georgia, where they raised their three kids and eventually their six grandkids.

Frank spent many years working for the Mohawk Finishing Company, but it wasn’t until 1999 that he started his true calling. Working as a Deputy Sheriff for the Bartow County Sheriff’s Department was a huge part of Frank and he wouldn’t have traded it for anything else.

There are not many a better man than Frank Carder. He was a proud, hard-working, and generous man. His family and friends were the most important thing to him, and he always made sure that they were doing well even if it meant he would sacrifice.

His sense of humor was one of a kind and if you did anything at all for him, he “would dance at your next wedding.” Frank’s smile was never bigger than when he saw a kid, whether it was his family or not. You could not blink before he was over there talking with them, just smiling and laughing. Frank’s strong principles and values built a wonderful family of children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren whom he could not have been prouder of. They will miss him more than words can describe.

Frank is survived by his wife, Dovie Elizabeth Carder; Children, Jimmy Franklin Carder of Acworth, GA, Dovie Renea (Michael) Barfield of Acworth, GA, and Angela Kay (Rodney) Slarks of Kennesaw, GA; Siblings, Lorine (George) London of Columbus, GA, Betty (Frank) Kennedy of Norwalk, CT, Ray (Robbie) Carder of Emerson, GA; Grandkids, Travis (Cara) Carder, Austyn (Jessica) Barfield, Kory (Misty) Carder, Kyle (Brittany) Carder, Cody (Lauren) Slarks, and Reed (Makayla) Barfield. He is preceded in death by parents, James T. Carder and Lois Carder; siblings, Edward ‘Bo’ Carder, Cheryl Carder and Ronald Lee Carder.
