Edna Betty Mulkey

Edna Betty Mulkey, age 86, passed away on Saturday, April 17, 2021.

Mrs. Mulkey was born on December 31, 1934, also the same birthday as her mother, in McNary, AZ, daughter of the late Manuel O. Ruiz and Sara Lopez Ruiz.

Mrs. Mulkey met and married her husband Willis A. Mulkey in Albuquerque, New Mexico, while he was serving in the United States Army. They had five children and lots of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. 

They were ministers to many churches in the state of Georgia until he passed in 1987. She continued to serve in many capacities, mainly with Toys For Tots, Salvation Army, and she was a volunteer Spanish interpreter. In her spare time, she enjoyed garage sales, flea markets and bargain hunting. She is well known for her cooking, especially tacos.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Willis A. Mulkey; sisters, Erlinda Nieto and Esther Fox; brother, Manuel "Nunie" Ruiz; granddaughter, Ashley Sanders; her special fur baby, Misty.

Survivors include her children, Ronny Mulkey, Kate (Hugh) Moore, Yvonne (Roy) Wigley, Mike (Doris) Mulkey and Janice (Vance) Beckham; twelve grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; brother, Reynaldo "Babe" (Esther) Ruiz; and a host of nieces and nephews. 

A celebration of life service will be conducted at eleven o'clock in the morning on Tuesday, the 20th of April, 2021, in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Palmer and Rev. Dannie Hix officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. You may join us for the service via FaceBook Live on the Owen Funeral Home FaceBook page at the hour of service.

Serving as pallbearers are her grandsons, Bruce Mulkey, David Mulkey, Kevin Mulkey, Jonathan Beckham, Ben Beckham and great-grandson, Braden Mulkey.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family for one hour prior to service time.
