Eddie retired from Norfolk-Southern Railway as a locomotive engineer after 20 years of service. He later worked part-time at Bellamy Funeral Home where he assisted with funeral services and did what he could to comfort families in their grief.  He spent 25 years involved with USSSA and ISA Softball holding primarily adult softball tournaments. The teams looked forward to playing with him on the week-ends, especially his special tournaments, Polar Bear Classic, Shriners Tournament and his Stars and Stripes Tournament. In 2008 he was inducted into the ISA Hall of Fame as a Director.
