Charles Edward Lee McCaslin, age 82, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2020.
He was born January 28th, 1938, on the Mayfield Dairy Farm in Athens, TN, to the late James & Lettie (Morrow) McCaslin. Charles was the youngest of seven children.
Charles, a.k.a. “Chuck,” was a loyal member and served on the board for many years of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #2593 in Black Oak, Indiana. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge #1931 in Cartersville, GA.
Charles spent most of his working life as a brick mason, a superintendent for Components Construction in east Chicago, and the owner of his construction company C&M Construction. He took a lot of pride in his work and loved creating things with his own hands.
In his free time Charles enjoyed riding motorcycles with his friends, cooking, “bargain” shopping, and visiting his family. He was a jokester and always wanted to keep people laughing.
Charles is survived by his daughters, Regina Lawton, of Sycamore, IL, Carma Gordon, of Crawfordville, FL, Chrissy (Michael) Martin, of Cartersville, GA; stepsons, John Gibbs, of Lowell, IN, Ricky Gibbs, of Gary, IN, and Ronnie Gibbs, of Demotte, IN; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; brother, Odis (Wanda) McCaslin, of Alamogordo, NM; and several nieces and nephews.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents, James & Lettie McCaslin; brothers, Robert, Vergil, Manuel (Doc) McCaslin; and sisters, Margaret Casteel and Cleda Coleman.
Charles loved his children. He was very proud of his daughters and thought highly of his nephew, Tony McCaslin, like he was his own son.
A private viewing will take place for the family. A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date in Englewood, TN. All friends and family are welcome to attend. The family would like to thank the memory care at The Fountains in Cartersville and Waldrop Personal Care for all the love and care you have given to Chuck! We appreciate you all more than you know!
