Charles "Chuck" John Payne, age 68, passed away on Sunday, May 1st, 2022.
Chuck was born on June 10, 1953 in Sacramento, California, son of the late Ray Darrel Payne and Evelyn Kozicki Payne.
Chuck proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Chuck was a retired engineer from Lockheed Martin after thirty years of faithful employment. Chuck met the love of his life, Carol Brown Payne in 1985, they were then married on August 8, 1987, and he remained a true and devoted husband for thirty-five years. Chuck was truly a Mr. Fix it, he often said, "I can fix anything, but a broken heart and the crack of dawn." He loved listening to his impressive record collection, woodworking, camping and most of all, spending quality time with his family. Chuck was a true servant of the Lord and a proud and active member of the Catholic faith.
He is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. His grandfather, John Kozicki played an important role in Chuck's life as his main father figure.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife, Carol Brown Payne; children, Christopher John (Kristina) Payne, Rebeckah Anne Payne, Johnathan Phillip (Katrina) Payne, Larry Keith (Dawn) Tatum and Michael Brent Tatum; grandchildren, Beathany Tatum, Emily Payne, Gavin Tatum, Caden Payne, Ezra Payne and Amos Payne; great-granddaughter, Gweneviere Tatum; brother, Mark (Rome) Payne; sisters, Monica Gonzales and Julia Flint; several nieces and nephews; special fur baby, Cacee.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at eleven o'clock in the morning on Saturday, May 7th, 2022, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with Deacon Tom Coffey officiating. A reception will immediately follow at the church.
A graveside service at the GA National Cemetery will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Chuck's honor to St. Jude's Children's Hospital at www.stjude.org.
