The Cartersville boys soccer team slammed home four goals in each half to cruise past Dawson County for an 8-0 win Friday at Weinman Stadium.

With four goals inside the opening 20 minutes, the Canes took full control early in the match. The Tigers, though, held the hosts scoreless the remainder of the opening half.

However, Cartersville (4-1) started the second half strong, putting away four goals by the 71st minute to finish off the comfortable home win.

Giovanni Jacobo collected a hat trick in the victory, while Leo Betancourt earned a second straight shutout in goal.

Cartersville girls 3, Dawson County 1

Freshman Hattie Williams scored once and assisted on another goal in helping the Cartersville girls pick up a 3-1 win over Dawson County Friday at Weinman Stadium.

Williams got the Canes on the board, and she fed sophomore Ava Flemons for Cartersville's second of the night.

Junior Ansley Holton rounded out the scoring for the hosts. Jocelen Fernandez provided the assist for Holton, and the sophomore also set up Williams' opener.

Next up for the Canes (3-1-1) will be a road trip Tuesday to Bremen.
