Cartersville girls win LakeShore Shootout; Vance earns MVP honors

The Cartersville girls soccer team went 3-0 in the LakeShore Shootout over the weekend in Birmingham, Alabama, to win the tournament's Silver division.

Junior Micah Vance landed MVP honors for the division, scoring six of the Canes' nine goals during their stellar showing. Cartersville (3-1-1-) scored three goals in each of its games against Alabama-based opposition, winning 3-2 over Decatur, 3-0 against Calera and 3-2 versus Indian Springs.

Abbey Craig and Linet Chege earned spots on the all-tournament team for Cartersville, which heads to Sequoyah on Tuesday before hosting Troup County in its Region 5-AAAA opener Thursday.
