Mrs. Carolyn E. Godfrey, 74, of White, passed away on September 7, 2021, at Cartersville Medical Center.
Born on April 25, 1947, she was the daughter of the late George Howard and the late Elizabeth Collins Howard. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her son, Darren Lee Godfrey; her son-in-law, Randy Duncan; and all seven of her brothers and sisters.
Carolyn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was affectionately known to many as “Memaw,” family or not. She was a beautiful woman inside and out. She made sure that her children, grandchildren; and great-grandchildren were taken care of and proved this everyday with the sacrifices she made. She genuinely cared deeply for other people; she loved to dance, sew and make homemade gifts and crafts in her spare time. She will truly be missed by all that knew and loved her and will remain in our hearts forever.
Survivors include her husband, Ronnie Godfrey; her son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Paula Godfrey; her daughters, Carolyn Duncan, and Tracy Santiago; 9 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Dorothy Howard; and numerous nieces, nephews, sister-in-laws, and brother-in laws.
A memorial gathering of family and friends will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 9, 2021, at Atco Baptist Church.
