A two-RBI single by Jake Brasfield and a three-run triple by Parker McPherson sent the Cartersville baseball team to its first win of the season.

The clutch hits came in the bottom of the fifth inning, when Cartersville rallied for five runs in a 6-3 victory over Forsyth Central Saturday at the East Cobb Baseball Complex.

With the Bulldogs as the designated visitors, Forsyth Central put up two quick runs in the top of the first.

Brasfield got Cartersville (1-1) on the board in the third inning, doubling home Davis Williams. With the bases loaded and two outs in the fifth, Brasfield gave the Canes the lead with his two-run hit.

After Hank Smith was hit by a pitch to reload the bags, McPherson cleared them with his knock to right field.

Mason McBee gave up two unearned runs on a hit and three walks. He struck out six in three innings. Phillip Schiltz also hurled three frames, striking out four and giving up an earned run on a hit and a walk.

Following an error to open the top of the seventh, Williams punched out the side to end the game.
