Anna Margaret Crabtree Painter

Mrs. Anna Margaret Crabtree Painter, age 100, peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday May 17, 2020.

Mrs. Painter was born in Union City, TN, July 23, 1919, to the late I. W. Crabtree and Emma Murphree Crabtree.

She came to Atlanta in the early-1940s from Union City, Tennessee, to be a telephone operator, where she met her future husband “Pete” Painter. They moved to Adairsville, Georgia, in the early-1950s where the Painter family was established.

She was a faithful member of Adairsville First United Methodist Church for 64 years. Over the years, she was very active, serving as treasurer for 25 years,  member of U.M.W., working with backpack buddies, and was still helping with the blood drives until recently. Mrs. Painter worked as the lunchroom supervisor at Adairsville High School for many years before retiring from the Bartow County School System. Always willing to help and give to others, she received the Adairsville High School Athletic Volunteer of the Year at least 3 times and happily volunteered over 1,000 hours at Gordon Hospital.

She enjoyed being outside working in her garden, watching the birds, and even mowing the grass. Mrs. Painter was a phenomenal cook, loved to read and work crossword puzzles, avid fan of the Atlanta Braves and Georgia Bulldogs, and loved watching her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren play sports. She accomplished a lot in 100 years of living, but being an amazing mother, grandmother, sister, and friend would be her best.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marvin Earl “Pete” Painter; brothers, Arch, John and Harry Crabtree; sisters, Grace Crabtree, Sarah Watts, Helen Trout, and Mary Sandlin; and daughter-in-law, Cheryl Painter.

She is survived by her children, Fred and Chris Painter, Bob and Susan Painter Nancy and Curt Stroud, and Gayle and Joe Misto; sister, Martha Jane White;  grandchildren, Tiffany (Blake Andrews) Painter, Lacey (Luis De La Pena) Painter, Angie (Jim) Pinkard, Chad DeLong, Brent (Elizabeth) Painter, Ani (Brian) Stengel, Jessica (Antonio) Garcia, Brooks Stroud, Caroline Stroud, Jay Misto, and Holly Misto; great-grandchildren, Jayce, Kylie, Milania, Cooper, Bronx, Camila, Maggie, Sara, Luke, Leia, Lana, Bret, and Austin; and several nieces and nephews.

A private Graveside service will be held from Eastview Cemetery, Adairsville, with Dr. Ron Tyler officiating. A celebration of Mrs. Painter's Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mrs. Painter’s honor to the Adairsville First United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 873, Adairsville, GA 30103 or at adairsvillechurch.com.
