According to the Bartow County Sheriff's Office incident report, deputies responded to the 6750 Skyview Drive mobile home park around 10:30 p.m. where a woman said her boyfriend came home intoxicated and began to argue with her.
She added that the man struck her in the back of the head, causing her to fall to the floor and form a lump on her head, before allegedly grabbing the knife and saying, "I'm going to cut your throat."
The 54-year-old woman said after the man lacerated her throat, he lunged at her again and she grabbed a knife on the kitchen counter and stabbed him.
At the hospital, the man spoke with deputies, allegedly saying the woman stabbed him for no reason, and the couple had not been arguing or fighting.
Deputies took the 38-year-old man into custody at the hospital, but it is not clear if he has been charged.

Man uses false name in April traffic stop, gets away
Three months after a traffic stop in which a deputy issued three traffic citations, BCSO officials last week learned the man in the car allegedly used a false identity.
A Delaware woman called officials Wednesday, asking why her son's driver's license had been suspended in Bartow County because the man had never been in Georgia. Officials checked the photograph on the son's license and it did not match that of the man a deputy pulled over in the truck.
Around 8:30 a.m. April 2 the deputy stopped the maroon Chevrolet Silverado on Hall Station Road in Adairsville. The driver did not produce identification, but said he was Thomas Greene of Delaware and had recently moved to the area.
After searching the vehicle, finding no illegal contraband, the deputy contacted the owner of the vehicle in attempt to confirm the "nervous and fidgety" man's identity.
Deputies now allege the woman falsely identified the unknown man, and issued warrants for her arrest on false statements and obstruction charges.
The mother in Delaware could not identify the unknown man, who was ticketed for speeding, driving without a license on his person and failing to register as a new resident.
