Bartow County Sheriff Clark Millsap said the suspect opened fire in the front yard of 15 Brent Circle, killing one and wounding two others.
The suspect then drove to a Milam Bridge Road residence where a fourth person was shot in the hand, Millsap said.
After leaving there, the suspect carjacked an elderly man and his grandson near River Oaks.
The shooter then fled in the silver pickup, leading authorities on a chase that ended when the pickup struck a trailer carrying lawn maintenance, causing the materials to explode.
Authorities found the suspect with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. His name has not been released.
Millsap said suspected drug activity may be to blame for the rampage and it is believed the suspect knew those persons at the first two locations. The carjacking, however, was a random victim.
The two men wounded at the Brent Circle address were airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital, according to Millsap.
