Fake company steals real car

A $94,000 automobile was reported stolen from the parking lot of Travel Center of America, 981 Cass-White Road. The complainant said the black 2014 Porsche was dropped off at the Travel Center by a VIP Hauling Transport truck. Barrier Porsche in Bellevue, Wash., had sent Ready Auto Transport to pick up the car but when they arrived, the car was gone. A subsequent investigation revealed that VIP Hauling was a fraudulent company operating out of Florida. The car was entered into the computer as stolen.

Ride home results in robbery

A deputy was dispatched to Room 202 at the Budgetel Inn, 35 Carson Loop, to investigate a robbery. The complainant said she got a ride home from work from a regular customer. She said when they arrived at the hotel, the driver insisted on walking her to her room. As they approached the top stairs, he grabbed her cellphone and $200 in cash, fled to his vehicle and drove away. The victim said she only knew the man by his first name and said he lives on Roswell Road in Sandy Springs. The thief was described as a Hispanic male about 25 driving a white Nissan Altima or Maxima and accompanied by two other Hispanic males.

Cruelty to animals

A deputy was dispatched to investigate a cruelty to animals complaint. Upon arrival, the complainant said her neighbor had shot at her dogs after the dogs began barking at him. She said she heard a shot fired and her dogs came running back limping. The offender admitted that he had fired a shot but it was at a snake that was near his dog.

Domestic altercation leaves girlfriend in jail

Deputies were sent to investigate a report of a domestic altercation on Falcon Circle in Cartersville. Upon arrival, the deputies interviewed a man who said the two had been fighting over money. He said he was standing next to the car door when his girlfriend asked for money. They continued to argue until the girlfriend threw the money at him and said she was leaving. When the man reached into the window to get his wallet, she rolled up the window and began to drive away with his arm stuck in the window. Desiree Johnson was arrested for aggravated assault under the Family Violence Act and transported to the Bartow County Jail.
