A man was arrested Monday after his 2-year-old daughter was found outside of an apartment complex wearing only a diaper.

According to a Bartow County Sheriff’s Office press release, deputies responded to an apartment complex off Iron Belt Road about 10:45 a.m. A resident reportedly found a toddler standing near the entrance of the apartment complex, close to the road. The toddler was reported as only wearing a diaper. After picking up the toddler, the resident called 911.

After going door to door for approximately one hour, deputies and residents were unable to find the toddler’s family. The toddler was then transported to the Bartow County Department of Family and Children Services.

Approximately two hours after getting the initial call, the toddler’s parents arrived at the DFCS office asking about their child, according to the report.

Further investigation led to the arrest of Javares Sylvester, who was charged with reckless conduct. He was taken to the Bartow County Jail with a $1,000 bond.
