Man faces molestation counts after picking up N.C. juvenile

Bartow County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Bartow County man in connection with a runaway juvenile from North Carolina.

According to Sheriff Clark Millsap, on May 28 authorities in North Carolina contacted the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office to assist in finding a runaway juvenile possibly located at a residence in White.

Upon arrival at the residence, deputies made contact with Matthew Mastrom who admitted that the juvenile was currently in his home. Further investigation revealed that Mastrom had traveled from Georgia to North Carolina to pick up the juvenile, and upon their return to Georgia, they became involved in a sexual relationship.

Matthew Mastrom, 30, of White was charged with interference with child custody, two counts of aggravated child molestation, seven counts of child molestation, statutory rape, enticing a child for indecent purposes and obstruction of an officer.
