Cass netters sweep LaFayette at home

Cass swept LaFayette in high school tennis play Friday.

The Lady Colonels won 4-1 while the boys picked up a 3-2 victory.

At the singles No. 1 line, Ryleigh Lanham won 6-2, 6-1 while at the singles No. 2 line, Aleigh Beard won 6-0, 6-1. At the singles No. 3 line, Jessica Frank defeated her opponent 6-1, 6-2.

The Lady Colonels picked up their fourth win at the doubles No. 2 line, where Callie Dodd and Hannah Howard outscored LaFayette 6-4, 6-2.

Their loss came at the doubles No. 1 line, where Flower Nation and Morgan Mayton were 6-2, 4-6, 5-7 in the tiebreaker.

In boys play, Cass picked up two victories at the singles line and its third victory at the doubles line.

At the singles No. 1 line, Avery Cornett won 6-3, 6-2, while at the singles No. 2 line, Eric Dunlap fell 3-6, 0-6.

At the singles No. 3 line, Jacob McBrayer 6-0, 6-0.

At the doubles No. 2 line, Caleb Reed and Seth Colston won 6-3, 6-4.

At the doubles No. 1 line, Logan Barrere and Josh Musilli lost 6-4, 5-7, 3-6.

Cass next plays against Excel Christian Academy at Dellinger Park on Tuesday.

The two teams are scheduled to meet at 4:30 p.m.
