Chap Lindstrom (Cumming/Central Forsyth) went 2 for 4 with a run scored and an RBI and Freddie Beamon (Dahlonega/Lumpkin County) collected two hits and scored two runs as the Georgia Highland College Chargers outlasted Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College on Tuesday after five lead changes, squeaking out a 7-6 win at East Cobb Complex.

GHC grabbed the lead after a strong eighth inning. An error scored Beamon and gave the Chargers the lead for good.

Mitchell Mannino (Powder Springs/Hillgrove) got the win for the GHC Chargers. He pitched 2 1/3 shutout innings. He struck out four, walked none and surrendered no hits.

The Chargers had jumped out to an early 5-2 lead after six strong innings from starting pitcher Tyler Elwer (Roswell/Lassiter). The Stallions jumped on middle reliever, Mikhail Cazenave, scoring four runs in the top of the seventh to take a 6-5 lead before GHC charged back into the lead scoring two runs in the bottom of the eighth.

“It was another great win for our program,” praised GHC skipper Mike Marra. “Having a lead, losing it late and then getting it back to finish the game shows the resolve of our ballclub.”

The Chargers improved to 3-2 in Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association play and will resume the series with ABAC today and Saturday in Tifton.
