In the four minutes required to go from roll call to adjournment, Emerson City Council learned that a police car encountered an errant jack stand on Interstate 75, causing considerable damage to the vehicle but none to the officer; the annual Keep Emerson Beautiful trash pickup is scheduled for April 5 at 9 a.m.; and a new telecomunications tower is coming to town.

The Bartow County Water Department requested a conditional use permit from the city to allow Verizon to build a transmission tower adjacent to a water tank. The request was a first reading and will be up for a vote on the second reading, probably at Emerson’s next city council meeting, March 24 at 7 p.m. at Emerson City Hall.
