Lady Tigers record second shutout

Adairsville logged its second straight shutout — keeping its region record perfect — with a 5-0 victory over North Murray in girls high school soccer play Thursday.

The Lady Tigers improved to 3-0 on the season with the victory.

“The key to the game for us was our fullback play,” coach Lance Hall said. “They would get the ball and send it back in to set up our offense. Our fullbacks played awesome for us tonight.”

The Lady Tigers started scoring in the third minute when Katelyn Webster scored off an assist from Haley Pittman.

In the 16th minute, the Lady Tigers made it 2-0 when Katie Lawhorn scored of a corner kick by Emily Sexauer.

That scored held up until halftime for Adairsville.

In the 50th minute, Victoria Davis scored off an assist from Natalie Sanchez and Adairsville took a commanding 3-0 lead.

In the 64th minute, Haley Pittman scored off an assist from Katie Lawhorn, pushing the lead to 4-0.

Davis scored her second goal of the night in the 66th minute off an assist by Pittman, her second of the night, to close out scoring.

Amber Litteral got the clean sheet in goal.

Adairsville now has an overall record of 3-0 and it is 2-0 in Region 5-AAA.

Adairsville returns to the field on Tuesday at Coahulla Creek. The two teams are to start at 5:30 p.m.
