Woman airlifted for facial burns

A Kingston woman was taken by air ambulance to an Atlanta hospital after suffering burns to the face.

Bartow County Fire Department Battalion Chief Bryan Keeling said the agency responded to the Raymond Jenkins Road address Thursday evening.

According to Keeling, the 52-year-old woman was smoking while on oxygen and the gas ignited. She received serious burns.

The victim was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital by helicopter.

Outbuilding burns

Cartersville and Bartow County fire departments responded to a fire at 12:40 p.m. Thursday on Pine Vista Circle.

CFD Battalion Chief Mark Bagley said CFD station 4 and BCFD stations 1 and 6 arrived at 1 Pine Vista Circle to find the storage building fully involved.

The residence did not receive damage and no one was injured. The building was a total loss.

Keeling said that, after an investigation, the cause of the fire remains unknown.
