On Friday, at 4:36 a.m. Cartersville police were dispatched to the CVS Pharmacy located at 1152 West Ave. in response to a theft in progress.

By the time the officer arrived on the scene, the suspects had fled, according to the incident report. The manager allegedly told the officer three subjects, two females and one male, entered the store looking very suspicious. The two females walked around filling a shopping cart with items and then went into the restroom together.

When the women left the store, the alarm sounded and several employees attempted to stop them from leaving. However, all three subjects got into their vehicle and sped away. Four minutes later at 4:40 a.m., another Carterville police officer observed the vehicle at the intersection of Etowah Drive and West Avenue.

After stopping the vehicle and gaining consent to search, the officer found multiple personal hygiene items that appeared to be taken from the store. The officer returned them to the store and obtained an itemized receipt for the items totaling $724.
