Armed robber hides face with towel

A man covering his face with a towel and brandishing a pistol robbed a Cartersville convenience store Friday evening.

About 9:40 p.m. a Cartersville police officer was dispatched to Sunoco Food Mart at 700 Joe Frank Harris Parkway in response to an alleged armed robbery.

According to the Cartersville Police Department incident report, a male entered the store with a towel wrapped around his face, holding a black, semi-automatic handgun and demanding the cash.

The employee and two witnesses stated the man’s face was unrecognizable.



Intoxicated woman loses her pants

According to the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office incident report, an officer was dispatched to a woman lying in the roadway on Friday night.

Upon arrival, the officer allegedly observed a woman, later identified as Erin Rafferty, stumbling in the road without her pants. Rafferty appeared wet and covered in grass and mud. The officer was able to locate her pants and socks nearby in the woods where she had been lying.

Rafferty was arrested and charged with pedestrian under the influence after she consented to a breath-alcohol test.

Fire destroys residence

Bartow County Fire Department stations 1, 2 and 7 responded to a fire at 66 Kingston Highway 293, Kingston, on Friday at 3:57 p.m. The single-wide mobile home sustained extreme damage, with between 75 and 100 percent of the home destroyed.

There were no injuries relating to the fire and the cause is under investigation.
