Every October Atlanta Magazine releases a list of wealth managers, among other professionals, who have met a high standard in servicing their clients. For 2013, Bartow County is home to three such professionals: Gene Lee and Chuck Nida of Peachtree Planning and Susan Simonton of Simonton Financial Associates.

This is the third time Lee has won the award, and he believes it is a representation of the work his firm does for its clients. There is a satisfaction in knowing his clients believe he is serving them well, he added.

“That’s why we’re here. I just think that has been a goal of ours at our office, as a team, that we’ve worked together [for] since we started 24 years ago,” Lee said.

“We work hard to provide our clients with good information and awareness of what’s going on and try to match what they’re doing with what their objectives are. ... The main thing would just be the trust we’ve established with our clients. We work hard at that, to try to be good listeners and try to understand their situation, understand where they’re coming from.”

For Nida, this is the sixth straight year he has won a Five Star Award. Like Lee, he believes it was reflective of his service to his clients as he works for their personal needs.

“I think what that goes back to ... is the fact that we take time to know our clients and their situations personally and therefore we design strategies that meet their particular needs. We service them with that in mind because of the uniqueness of their situation, our service allows us to be much more close to the family, whether it’s grandparents and children or so on,” Nida said.

The work is very personal, he added, as he is looking at his clients’ wealth and what their goals are.

Lee holds a similar belief.

“What we do is about as personal, and is as personal, in fact more so for some people than going to their physician, their personal physician, or what have you, just because the nature of what they’re talking about, it deals with their family, it deals with their future, it deals with the decisions they’ve made in the past and they’re making in the future. It does reflect a very personal relationship that we have,” he said.

Nida added that relationship continues throughout the year, as Peachtree Planning hosts seminars for its clients as well as a Christmas party that draws roughly 300 guests each year.

This is the fourth year in a row Simonton has won the award. Her approach is slightly different from Lee and Nida, as she places education at the forefront of her client relations.

“I believe my background in education gives me the ability to explain things to clients in ways they understand. I take it very seriously that clients understand the investment strategy, or the investment products that we recommend,” she said. “I want clients to be educated and informed and knowledgeable.

“I have had clients who will come in and say, ‘I don’t know anything about this, just do what you think is right.’ I will tell them no, that’s not the way I operate. I will do my best to educate you on what your choices are and then together we will make a decision as to what direction you want to take.”

Simonton, Lee and Nida were all honored to have won their awards. Each thanked their clients and peers for win.

“I consider it a great honor, because it is based on information from people who matter the most, and that’s my client,” Simonton said.
