Bartow’s Brown makes top 10 at DYW event

Bartow County’s Avian Brown earned a top 10 spot Saturday night at the Distinguished Young Women competition in Mobile, Ala.

The 18-year-old, a 2013 graduate of North Cobb Christian School, competed in the areas of fitness, scholastics, self-expression, talent and interview. Avian is the daughter of Dr. Mason and Linda Brown of White. Her activities include the Georgia Youth Symphony Orchestra, National Honor Society, Beta Club and varsity soccer, and she also was the captain of the varsity cross country team.

Avian received the Georgia Certificate of Merit Award, Scholar Athlete Award and the Director’s Award for North Cobb Christian School. An outstanding leader, she has served as her Student Government’s vice president, treasurer and secretary throughout her high school career.
