3 armed robbers demand $20K, weed

Three armed men robbed a Ridge Row apartment early Thursday morning, demanding the return of $20,000 and their weed.

The victim and her roommate were asleep about 4:15 a.m., according to the Cartersville incident report, when there was a knock on the door. The first victim said they had a friend who regularly comes over at all hours of the night, so the two women were not concerned about the knock.

However, when the second victim opened the door, three men came into the apartment, and one of them allegedly pointed a pistol at her and told her to get on the ground. The suspect asked both women where “Kelbo” was and that the same person owed him $20,000. According to the second victim, they also demanded to know where their weed was.

One suspect reportedly made the first victim lie on the floor and pointed a gun at her while the other two suspects searched the apartment. The first victim’s iPhone was stolen during the search, in addition to the second victim’s cellphone and $60 in cash.

According to the report, the three suspect were black males were approximately 6 feet 2 inches in height. Two of the suspects were wearing white shirts and black pants while the third suspect was wearing a burgundy shirt and black pants. All three men said they would be watching the victims, they should not call the police and they would be back.

An investigator was called to the scene and the investigation was then turned over to her. No further information was available.

Pedestrian struck on MLK

The third life flight in as many days was called in Wednesday night after a vehicle struck a pedestrian on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive at its intersection with Roosevelt Street.

The vehicle was traveling west on MLK when the driver said something came across the road and struck the front of her vehicle. She told Cartersville police she made a U-turn in the road and that was when she realized she hit a pedestrian. The driver called Bartow County 911.

According to the incident report, the pedestrian, identified as Pedro Gorge Tadeo, darted out in front of the vehicle, which led to the pedestrian being struck on the right side of his body. The report noted Tadeo suffered a serious injury and was life flighted to Atlanta Medical Center.

Later that night, a Cartersville officer made contact with an individual on Mary Street to help identify Tadeo. The man said he did not know of Tadeo having any family in Georgia, but he did know Tadeo worked as a landscaper at various places throughout the city. The man also said he had been drinking with Tadeo earlier that night and Tadeo may have been drunk when he left the residence.

Further attempts to get additional on Tadeo through database searches were unsuccessful. No citations were issued to the driver.
