After a wet spring, work at Terminus is in full swing and built-in rain days have so far kept construction plans on schedule.
The cable-pulled wakeboard park will set on 17 acres with two full cable pools, including a six-station Sesitec Cable System on one pool and a smaller straight-line lake.
“We are at full capacity,” said Terminus Wake Park Managing Partner Austin Singleton about construction. “There’s more equipment on site, we moved more on [Thursday], and everything is moving along nicely.
“Everything right now is moving pretty good. We’re expecting our rail system from Germany, which is the part the riders go over, we’ll be unloading those tomorrow.”
The Sesitec Cable System also comes from Germany where cable-pulled wakeboarding has found popularity. In the states, however, the same enthusiasm is growing and Terminus hopes to build on that momentum.
“There are several cable parks in the United States, there’s several in Florida and Texas and there’s one in Charlotte,” Singleton said. “So it’s a growing sport in the United States and there are several under construction right now.
“Comparing the sizes of Germany and America, Germany has got 150 plus of these, but it is moving a little quicker in the United States now than it has in the past. It’s a very unique field in that it’s very hard to put it together.”
Terminus plans to open in mid to late summer aiming for either late July or early August.
Cartersville-Bartow County Department of Economic Development Executive Director Melinda Lemmon looks forward to the opening of LakePoint’s first tennant as a draw for more businesses to fill the park.
“It’s nothing but positive measures for the LakePoint project and for the community,” Lemmon said. “I personally am excited to see their progress and will be one of the first to congratulate them when the opening happens.”
