Staff Report

A Bartow County Sheriff’s Office Deputy was dispatched to 138 Hamilton Crossing Road, Cartersville, after a man, using vulgar language toward a female, produced a handgun, threatening the complainant.

While crossing the parking lot of the park, the complainant reportedly overheard Prince Porter addressing a female in a vulgar way; a few small children were with the female. According to the report, the female asked Porter to stop using the language and leave. Porter did not comply, so the complainant also asked Porter to stop using the language and leave the property.

Porter went to his truck where he reportedly produced a handgun, a Glock 22. He turned and faced the complainant with the weapon in his right hand, then stuck the handgun in his waste band and asked him, “What do you wanna do now?”

Several witnesses the deputy spoke with confirmed the complainant’s story.

As the deputy approached Porter’s truck, he noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. When the deputy asked Porter if there was marijuana in his vehicle, he said no, adding that he had smoked it all three to five days earlier. The deputy found a small amount of green leafy substance, suspected to be marijuana, under the driver’s side seat.

Prince was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, simple assault and possession of marijuana.
