The Bartow County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division has charged a local man in the April assault of a teenager.

According to Sheriff Clark Millsap, a 17-year old-man playing basketball at an Adairsville church gym was assaulted by another player on April 23. The victim received a broken jaw during the assault requiring surgery to repair the damage.

Millsap says that investigators were able to uncover information from witness statements and video surveillance at the gym to identify the person who assaulted the teen. On the afternoon of Tuesday, May 2, deputies and investigators arrested Marcus Deanglo Henderson, 33, of Cartersville, and charged him for the crime.

Henderson was arrested on a charge of aggravated battery and booked into the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office Jail. Henderson has been released on bond to await further proceedings.

The complainant stated his ex-wife attempted to ram his parked vehicle with her vehicle. The complainant was parked with his son and friend in the parking lot of the Hamilton Crossing baseball field parking lot.

The complainant stated he turned right onto Georgia Highway 293 and the subject began to follow him closely, resulting in the complainant pulling onto Fire Tower Road and into fire station No. 2 to get help. The subject again almost struck the complainant’s vehicle in the fire station parking lot.

The subject left the scene in a rush, according to the report, and the deputy reported to the subject’s residence. Upon arrival, the deputy stated the subject, who was sitting inside of her vehicle, began cursing at him and was hostile when asked to exit. The report states she denied following the subject and denied going to the fire station.

When the deputy advised the subject she was under arrest, the subject began to walk toward the residence and ignored multiple commands to stop.
