The two teams both lost their initial matches to Dalton on Thursday and then won their afternoon games.
The Colonels defeated Heritage 3-0 while the girls came from two points down to top LaFayette, 3-2.
“Both our teams will play Chamblee Charter next week,” head coach Chris Allen said Thursday evening. “Tonight I’ll email the school and together we’ll set up playing times.”
Allen said Cass played well against Dalton but did not get the victories it wanted. “We got down and couldn’t fight our way back.”
He said a No. 3 seed gives both Cass teams an easier path in the playoffs since they will be playing No. 2 seeds rather than No. 1. “Winning a No. 3 seed leaves us with an opportunity to advance whereas a No. 4 seed doesn’t give you an easy way since you play [state tennis power] Marist.”
