According to the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office incident report, about 12:45 a.m. a man had gone to the victim’s room at Efficiency Lodge on Highway 20 to ask for a cigarette.
The victim told deputies when he opened the door for the man, a black male suspect walked up, started cursing and calling him names, saying, “That’s why you got beat up at Parkway North.” The suspect then pointed a silver, semi-automatic handgun at the victim, who closed the door and called 911.
The witness said he asked for a cigarette and the suspect walked up behind him and pointed a gun at the victim.
Neither man knew the suspect’s name or where he lived. A search of the area did not locate anyone matching the suspect’s description.
