According to the complainant, he heard his dog barking earlier that day but thought nothing of it. Later the dog began barking more persistently.
When the complainant went outside, he saw the grass was on fire and the siding on the barn was melting off.
The deputy then spoke with the Bartow County Fire Department, which said it had been dispatched to Dog Wood Drive in reference to the fire, but it seemed to be coming from the complainant’s residence. The fire department also spoke with the complainant who said he did not know how the fire started.
According to the deputy, there were several burn piles where it appeared someone had been burning trash. The items in the piles were cold. There also was a large pile of trash next to the barn that was warm.
The deputy asked the complainant if he knew who had been burning the cold piles. The complainant told the deputy that he had burned them, but not that day.
