Inventory in the Downtown Gallery exhibits rotate every three months revolving around a selected theme. The second theme is Landscapes with selections available through March 30. The show features 91 works of art by 58 artists, including 43 original paintings and 48 photographs by regional artists. All art in the Downtown Gallery is available for purchase on a first-come, first-served basis. Prices range from $150 to $2,500.
“The Gallery is organized into three sections: artwork from each guild (artists’ and photography) as well as prints, posters, books and sculpture by artists in the Booth Museum collection,” said Tom Shinall, director of marketing at Booth Western Art Museum. “Artwork in each of the guild sections will be based on the exhibit theme, and yes, some have a Western feel but that is by choice of the artist and not a requirement of the gallery.”
Saturday’s opening reception will offer an exclusive look into the juried artwork. Many of the regional artists plan to be in attendance to share their experience creating the pieces exhibited in the Downtown Gallery. The reception will include wine, cheese and crackers for guests.
The Downtown Gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Downtown Gallery is an effort by the Booth Western Art Museum to help highlight the talents of local and regional artists and move Cartersville toward becoming a more art focused community. Regional artists wishing to show their art at the Downtown Gallery must be members of the Booth Artists Guild or Booth Photography Guild.
“Once the work has been submitted, a committee of fine art professionals who are not participating in the guilds will jury submissions based on artistic merit, originality and adherence to theme,” Shinall said.
