Thousands of dollars stolen in forgery incident

According to a Bartow County Sheriff’s Office incident report, a complainant advised police her purse was stolen from a friend’s vehicle while parked at the recreation area located on Bartow Beach Road on Sept. 12. She did not realize at the time she needed to file a police report; she did, however, cancel her debit card and get a new driver’s license.

Since that time, there have been three unauthorized withdrawals totalling $5,700 from her savings account. The last withdrawals were made Dec. 23 and Dec. 24.

Fire causes moderate damage

Bartow County Fire Stations 1 and 5, as well as Cartersville City engine 2, responded to an electrical fire on Friday night. The home at 1496 Highway 411, Cartersville, sustained limited damage as a result of the fire. There were no injuries related to the incident.

Camper stolen from hunting property

On Friday, a BCSO deputy was dispatched to 97 Lanham Road in reference to a theft. The address is a leased hunting property belonging to Premier Tree Service. On Dec. 21, the entrance gate was stolen but a parked camper was still on the property. However, when the lessee arrived on Friday the camper was missing. He described it as having two bent jack stands on the right rear and front left corners and $1,000 worth of camping supplies inside.

Three subjects drive away with boat

A neighbor of 16 Brown Drive, Cartersville, noticed a black Chevy Z71 truck back into the driveway of the unoccupied home. According to the police report, three males were seen hooking up the boat to the truck and speeding away in the direction of Rockmart.

Women knocks on doors asking for pot, alcohol and pills

Residents of the Penny Lane area in Cartersville called police early Saturday morning when an unknown woman was seen walking around and knocking on doors. Upon arrival, the responding deputy noticed a woman laying in front of a parked car at 16 Penny Lane. The officer, according to the police report, detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from the subject, Christine White.

A neighbor told police White had been knocking on his door for several minutes before he finally answered it. When he did, she asked him for pot, alcohol and pills and he told her to leave immediately.

She was placed under arrest for disorderly conduct and prowling.

On the way to Bartow County Jail, the officers had to stop and restrain White from banging her head against the window.
