Criminal cases begin Monday in Superior Court

Criminal jury trials are scheduled to begin Monday in the courtrooms of Bartow County Superior Court Judges Shepherd Howell and Scott Smith.

Assistant District Attorney Mickey Thacker said several cases have been named priority, which the court is expected to first sound.

The cases are in random order and the disposition status — currently “disposition required by jury trial” — may change on Monday during the sounding of the jury trial calendar.

Those expected to sound first in Howell’s courtroom include the cases of:

• Tammy Cogar

• Hector Rodriguez

• Robert Gresham

• Walter Coates

• Angela Cole

• Cassie Prather

• Loria Swan

In Smith’s courtroom, the cases expected to sound first are:

• Benny Ray Simmons — aggravated assault, battery and cruelty to children in the third degree.

• Dylan Jordan Allen — driving while license suspended or revoked and hindering an officer.

• Matthew Eugene James — first-degree burglary and simple battery under the Family Violence Act.

•Joshua Mark James — burglary, aggravated assault, aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, interference with government property, two counts of fleeing or attempting to elude, hindering a law enforcement officer and theft by taking.

• James Mark Agan — four counts of aggravated assault, and

•Cheryl Agan Parks — hindering a law enforcement officer.

• Marion Douglas Jenkins Jr. — driving while license suspended or revoked.

• Drew Charles Duncan — possession of carisoprodol with intent to distribute in violation of the Georgia Controlled Substance Act, possession of methamphetamine VGCSA, possession of carisoprodol VGCSA, possession of tools for the commission of a crime, transactions in drug-related objects prohibited, operation of vehicle without revalidation decal; and

•William Shane Morgan — possession of carisoprodol with intent to distribute in violation of the Georgia Controlled Substance Act, possession of meth, possession of methamphetamine by ingestion VGCSA, possession of carisoprodol VGCSA, possession of tools for the commission of a crime, possession of drug-related objects.

• Harris Edgar Adcock Jr. — possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana more than 1 ounce, two counts of criminal trespass.
