Mr. Smith was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. He served two tours of duty in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam War as a sniper. Mr. Smith was an avid golfer, loved to play softball and to scuba dive. He was retired from Lockheed-Martin in Marietta.
Survivors include his sons and daughter-in-law, Lewis “Ashley” Smith of Port St. Lucie, Fla. and Eric and Kourtney Smith of Cartersville; the mother of his children, Vicki Smith of Cartersville; his grandchildren, Tabatha Smith of Atlanta, Elizabeth Smith and Nicholas Smith, both of Port St. Lucie, Fa.; his sister, Lynne Price of Augusta; his brothers, Ed Smith of Helen and Palmer Smith of Tyler, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with the Rev. Sammy Burgess officiating. Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. in the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
