Barnsley Gardens welcomes Gordon as new GM

Michael Gordon has been at the head of resorts from Florida to Hawaii, including Georgia’s own Ritz Carlton Reynold’s Plantation. After recently serving at the head of the storied Greenbrier Resort in West Virginia and the Mansion on Forsyth Park in Savannah, Gordon has landed in Adairsville as general manager of Barnsley Gardens Resort.

Overseeing some 250 employees at the luxury resort, Gordon took over earlier this year and looks forward to growing the Barnsley Garden brand with new guests and experiences.

“I’d been here a couple times with my wife and when I heard the position was open, I inquired quickly, spoke to the owner and it wasn’t long after that I began on June 15. It’s a very unique place. You can go around the country and visit all sorts of resorts and hotels and this is extremely unique based on where it is, the fantastic staff that is here and the uniqueness of the accommodations. It’s not a cookie-cutter resort,” Gordon said. “And then it also has the historic attribute to it, which is the ruins, and everyone likes to tell a story. When you can stay at a place as beautiful as this that still has a story going back to the mid 1800s — that’s a great place, that’s a place that people want to stay and it attracts me because I think we can tell that story even better than we do already.”
