A teenager was flown to an Atlanta hospital Friday evening after being hit by a vehicle.

According to Bartow County Fire Department Battalion Chief Sandy Turner, the 14-year-old was walking in the roadway at Glade Road and Scenic Mountain Drive about 5:30 p.m. when he was struck by the passenger car.

Turner said the boy was airlifted to Scottish Rite with head injuries, but was conscious and talking.

It is unclear whether the driver of the vehicle was speeding or under the influence.
