Coming off 10-win uptick, Lady Canes enter pivotal year

No softball team in Bartow County made more strides last season than Cartersville, the only local team to record more wins than losses from its previous year.

It should be noted, though, that the Lady Purple Hurricanes — after a winless 2010 — essentially had nowhere to go but up. Still, a 10-win improvement may have been more than anyone could have dreamed of, making the upcoming season a pivotal one for the rebuilding program.

Now, Cartersville, which also lost 10 games a year ago, must figure out how to transition from being a competitive team to one that expects to win each and every time out. Its head coach, for one, doesn’t want to go backward.
