State Rep. Christian Coomer qualified for reelection to State House District 14, encompassing northern Bartow and southeastern Floyd Counties on Wednesday. No other candidate qualified to run against Coomer. As a result, he will serve in the State House of Representatives for an additional two-year term.

"This demonstration of approval for our work in the General Assembly over the past two years is both a high compliment and an overwhelming honor that I could not have anticipated," said Coomer. "During the last term, we worked hard to improve economic growth conditions for Georgia's businesses by lowering taxes on manufacturing, mining and agriculture activities. We've expanded educational opportunities for Georgia's children by giving parents and teachers more control over the education process. Additionally, we have advanced a conservative social policy that protects the lives of innocent children from unmitigated barbarism by abortionists, helps make the "punishment fit the crime" with meaningful criminal justice reform, and further enshrines the sanctity of human life by punishing people who make money from pushing others to commit suicide."

Coomer also noted he believed the most important accomplishment of the session was the passage of a balanced budget without raising taxes. "Georgia is setting the standard for American states and the federal government. We are proving that conservative fiscal policy works, while the President and his ilk keep proving that liberal, government-centric economic policies erode the foundations of our Republic and prolong the malaise of recession," said Coomer.
