Lura lived most of her life in Cobb County and attended Smyrna First Baptist Church. She was an active member of the Phebean Sunday school Class and SFBC Choir.
Lura was preceded in death by her two sons, William Kenneth and Michael Keith, as well as three brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, William "Bill" Horace McMichen; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Lon Bryant; daughter-in-law, Deborah Abbey Mege; five grandchildren, Patrick McMichen of Marietta, Lura Abbey Brewer of Marietta, India Keefover of Topeka, Kan., Anna Bryant of Marietta and Daniel Bryant of Marietta; and two great-granddaughters, Trinity Brewer and Molly Lura McMichen.
She is also survived by a brother, Cecil Popham of Silver Creek, and two sisters, Rachel Rhymer of Dallas and Vivian Bowman of Nashville, Tenn.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Smyrna First Baptist Church with Dr. Steve Kimmel officiating. Interment will be in Kennesaw Memorial Park Cemetery in Marietta. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Carmichael Funeral Home in Smyrna, 770-435-4467.
