Dennis Leon Wilson, 68, of Cartersville passed away Sunday, Dec. 25, 2011.

Born Nov. 26, 1943, he was the son of the late Willie R. Wilson and the late Syble Wilbanks Lyons.

Dennis served his country in the United States Army and received the National Defense Service Medal; the Army of Occupation Medal; the Vietnam Service Medal with four Bronze Service Stars; the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; two Overseas Service Bars; Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal; Combat Infantryman Badge; and the Overseas Service Ribbon; Good Conduct Medal (5th Award); Meritorious Service Medal; Army Service Ribbon, Army Commendation Metal with one Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster. He was also a member of the Vietnam Veterans Association of Cartersville.

Survivors include his special friend, Gail Lanham of Cartersville; his son and daughter-in-law, David L. and Angie Wilson of Kennesaw; his daughter and son-in-law, Tammy W. and Greg Bennett of Cartersville; and his brother and sister-in-law, Windell and Melanie Wilson of Cartersville; his grandchildren, Dustin "Lyn" Wilson of Kennesaw, Katie Ruth Bennett of Cartersville, and Colin Bennett of Cartersville; and his great-grandchild, Devin Wilson.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. with full military honors on Wednesday, Dec. 28, at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton with the Rev. Max Maybern officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home, 430 Cassville Road, Cartersville.
