Boyd was a loving husband and father. He served his country in the United States Army and was employed by Lockheed Martin until the time of his retirement. Boyd was a member of Kingston Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, sang in the choir, and was a Sunday school teacher for many years. His hobbies were hunting, fishing, woodworking and farming.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Ima Sherman Martin; his children and their spouses, Paula Martin Cox, Jimmy Martin (Donna), and Marla Martin Metzger (Allen); his grandchildren, Jay Metzger, Phillip Martin, Brooke McDurmon, and Melissa Martin; and his great-grandson, Jared Martin.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 1, at Kingston Baptist Church with Reverend Jimmy Garland officiating. The body will lie in state at the church from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the funeral. Burial will follow in the Kingston cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Phillip Martin, Jay Metzger, Danny Dobson, Jr., Tommy Jones, Grant McDurmon, and Bardy Abernathy. These gentlemen are asked to be at the church by 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Kingston Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Rd., Cartersville, GA 30120.
